Kellys beach
Kelly’s Beach is one of Bundaberg’s favored seaside destinations. With its extensive shoreline, tidal pools and low-rolling waves, Kelly’s Beach is a great spot for a family beach trip or a seaside getaway. Wander along the 0.4-mile (600-meter) stretch of sandy shore and admire the pristine ocean views. Play in the waves or enjoy a sheltered swimming experience in the large tidal pool. Wander down to the wide beach from the tree-lined esplanade and feel the golden sands beneath your toes. At the center of the beach, you’ll find a shallow lagoon that feeds into the ocean via a narrow creek. Stroll north to find the large tidal pool, which is ideal for younger children. Relax in the warm, protected waters as you wade around the pool. Jump into the ocean waters to play in the low beach breaks.
Mon Repos Conservation Park
Mon Repos is special! It supports the largest concentration of nesting marine turtles on the eastern Australian mainland and has the most significant loggerhead turtle nesting population in the South Pacific region. The success of nesting and hatching turtles at Mon Repos is critical for the survival of the endangered loggerhead turtle.
At this globally significant site, you can learn all about these extraordinary animals and the conservation and research programs that are protecting them. The Mon Repos Turtle Centre is dedicated to marine turtle research, protection and education. Discover the details, the big picture and the people protecting these ancient mariners.

Day trip to Lady Elliot Island
The island is small by nature, making it easy to walk around and the ideal place to snorkel directly from the shore to the reef. There is a modest eco-resort that has been carefully built to complement the natural environment, leaving a small eco footprint - a priority for staff and visitors alike. There’s a glass bottom boat tour to the outer reef to snorkel with the turtles, manta rays and abundant marine life. Bargara Beach Hotel
A trip to Bargara or any coastal town for that matter isn’t complete without checking out the local watering hole. By watering hole, we mean a brand-new hotel that adorns the beach front. (Formerly a modest pub that was damaged by fire in 2019.) The re-incarnation of the Bargara Hotel is modern in design with coastal hues and a new white brick façade, retaining its friendly charm.
